Super Eagles Legend Hints at Blockbuster Transfer Amid Vinicius Jr. Standoff.

Sunday Oliseh

Super Eagles legend Sunday Oliseh has revealed that Real Madrid are genuinely interested in signing Victor Osimhen, though he kept his high-level source under wraps, Sportblits.com reports.

The 26-year-old Nigerian striker, who has become a global sensation since spearheading Napoli’s 2022/23 Serie A triumph, joined Galatasaray permanently in summer 2025 after a stellar loan spell that delivered the Turkish Super Lig and domestic cup titles, plus the Golden Boot as league top scorer.

Osimhen’s form has only soared this season: six goals in three UEFA Champions League matches, per Transfermarkt, drawing eyes from Europe’s elite.

Madrid’s Tactical Gambit

On the Global Football Insight Podcast, Oliseh, former Juventus and Borussia Dortmund midfielder, tied the interest to Vinicius Jr.’s contract impasse, with the Brazilian’s deal expiring in 2027 amid reported tensions.

Real Madrid have the luxury now that they can say to Vinicius, go, because if you go, Mbappe can now go back to his natural position. So, it is not as if we lose you and we lose something,” Oliseh said.

And there’s a lot of talk under the ground about the possibility of Osimhen being a candidate. I am not going to tell you how I got this information, but there’s a lot of talk. Let’s see how this plays out. But when I heard it from a top personality, I was happy for the young man.

Under new boss Xabi Alonso, Madrid eye Osimhen as the central striker to unlock Kylian Mbappe’s return to the left wing, adding a focal point to their explosive attack.

Hefty Price Tag Looms

Galatasaray, having shelled out €75 million to Napoli, with €17.5 million left to pay by March 2026, won’t let go easily. Expect demands of at least €100 million upfront, plus over €20 million annually in wages for the Super Eagles star.

PSG and others lurk, but a Madrid switch would etch Osimhen into history as the first Nigerian at the Bernabeu. As Oliseh noted, “Let’s see how this plays out”, the football world holds its breath.
