Midfielder to miss remaining Pisa matches before linking up with Nigeria in Morocco.

Pisa manager Alberto Gilardino has confirmed that Nigerian midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro will join the Super Eagles for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco after Pisa’s next league match against Lecce.

Gilardino said, “Akinsanmiro? After Lecce he will miss several matches,” signaling the midfielder’s AFCON participation.

Akinsanmiro, 21, returned from injury against Parma, impressing with energy, passing accuracy, and midfield control, earning Pisa’s best performer rating despite the team’s defeat.

On loan from Inter, Akinsanmiro has delivered standout performances this season, including a Man of the Match display against Fiorentina and a decisive assist against AC Milan. Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has closely monitored him, valuing his technical ability and transition play for tightly organised opponents.

This will mark Akinsanmiro’s first major international tournament as he prepares to link up with Nigeria following the Lecce game.
