The decisive goal came in the ninth minute from striker Sodiq Ibrahim, who later left the field due to injury. The win marked Shooting Stars’ second away success of the season, consolidating their position in seventh place with 26 points.

Aweroro, who joined the Oluyole Warriors from Ikorodu City ahead of the season, has now overseen 50 Nigeria Premier Football League matches in his managerial career. According to @NPFL_News on X, his NPFL record stands at 24 wins, 12 draws, and 14 losses. This season alone, he has guided Shooting Stars to seven wins, five draws, and five losses in 17 games, highlighting the team’s steady performance under his leadership.

Matchday 17 in the NPFL featured intense encounters across the league. Abia Warriors edged Kun Khalifat 1-0, Enyimba defeated Kwara United 3-1, and Niger Tornadoes routed El-Kanemi Warriors 3-0. Bayelsa United came from behind to beat Remo Stars 2-1, while Plateau United and Warri Wolves shared points with goalless draws. Shooting Stars will now return to Ibadan to face Niger Tornadoes, with Aweroro’s side aiming to build on their away form and continue their push for a strong finish and potential continental qualification.
