Serie A, Italy’s top football league, began in 1898 and became a national competition in 1929. Renowned for tactical play, it peaked in the 1980s–90s with clubs like Juventus (record 36 titles), AC Milan, and Inter Milan. The 2006 Calciopoli scandal hit its reputation, but Serie A remains elite, with Inter Milan as 2024–25 defending champions.
