Steve Clarke warns supporters to prioritise finances as ticket costs soar for US World Cup.

2026 FIFA World Cup

Scotland head coach Steve Clarke has urged supporters not to put themselves into financial difficulty to follow the national team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States.

Speaking ahead of ticket applications for group matches against Haiti, Morocco, and Brazil, Clarke highlighted the high cost of attending the tournament. Ticket pricing has drawn criticism, with supporters potentially paying thousands of pounds for a seat at the matches.

“It’s going to be expensive. But, it is expensive to go to America anyway. The tickets are expensive. If you can get there and you can afford to be there, then fantastic but don’t push yourself too far into debt trying to get there,” Clarke told BBC Scotland.

Scotland fans are currently expected to receive around 8% of available seats for their group matches, with the Scottish FA hoping to increase that allocation in the coming months.

The team will play their final group game against Brazil in Miami on June 24, with 3,736 tickets allocated to Scotland supporters. Prices range from £198, £373 to £523, reflecting the premium costs for a marquee fixture.

Clarke emphasised that fans who travel extensively deserve a fair opportunity to secure tickets without overextending financially. “A friend of mine has already booked his flights and he’s in to me for tickets, but he’ll need to hold fire on those ones because I don’t have any at the minute,” he added.
