Gabon striker sidelined due to injury, uncertain for Mozambique clash.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Gabon will start their AFCON 2025 campaign without veteran striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is sidelined after sustaining an injury in Marseille’s Ligue 1 win over Monaco.

The 36-year-old talisman remains in France for treatment, as confirmed by the Gabonese Football Federation.

“Olympique de Marseille’s medical staff requested Aubameyang receive treatment in Marseille after consulting with national team doctors,” the federation said. He will miss the 24 December clash against Cameroon, with a potential return against Mozambique depending on his recovery.

Defensive concerns also loom, with Metz centre-back Michel Mboula doubtful due to a thigh injury.
