Club History

Founded in 1899 as Boscombe FC in Bournemouth, England, the club—renamed AFC Bournemouth in 1971—joined the Football League in 1923 and spent decades in the lower divisions, winning the Third Division title in 1986–87 under Harry Redknapp. Facing near-bankruptcy in 2008, Eddie Howe’s arrival sparked a remarkable ascent with three promotions in six years, culminating in their first-ever Premier League appearance in 2015 and a best finish of 9th in 2016–17. Relegated in 2020, they returned in 2022 and, under Andoni Iraola since 2023, achieved another 9th-place finish in 2024–25 with a record 48 points, known as “The Cherries” at the 11,400-capacity Vitality Stadium.
