Rooney Backs Rice for England Armband

England’s all-time leading goalscorer Wayne Rooney has tipped Declan Rice to become the future captain of the Three Lions.

Speaking in a recent interview, the Manchester United and Everton legend praised the Arsenal midfielder’s leadership attributes and maturity at just 26 years old.

Declan Rice

Rooney, who captained England 23 times during his illustrious career, believes Rice has all the qualities needed to lead the national team.

The former West Ham star has already worn the armband on several occasions in Harry Kane’s absence and has established himself as a key figure under managers Gareth Southgate and now Lee Carsley/Thomas Tuchel.

Rice’s consistent performances in midfield, combined with his vocal presence and professionalism, have earned widespread admiration.

Current skipper Harry Kane continues to lead the side, but Rooney sees Rice as the natural long-term successor when Kane eventually steps aside.

A strong endorsement from one of England’s greatest ever players for the ever-impressive Declan Rice!
