Club History

Burnley Football Club, based in Lancashire, is one of the oldest clubs in English football, founded in 1882 after its members voted to switch from rugby to association football. They were founding members of the Football League in 1888-89 and became professional early on in 1883. The club has won the top-flight English championship twice (1920-21, 1959-60) and the FA Cup once (1913-14), among other honours. After some years out of the Premier League, they gained promotion in 2025 and are competing again at the top level in the 2025-26 season.
