Joao Palhinha

Tottenham Push to Secure Palhinha in Permanent DealTottenham Hotspur have carried their momentum from last season’s Europa League triumph into a strong start to the new campaign. With Thomas Frank now at the helm, Spurs look determined to strengthen their squad and secure long-term stability in midfield.

One of the standout additions so far has been Joao Palhinha, who joined on loan from Bayern Munich. The Portuguese international has quickly settled into life in North London, delivering commanding performances and even scoring in Tottenham’s shock 2-0 win away at Manchester City. Having already started five games this season, he looks set to play a key role in Frank’s plans.

Spurs currently hold an option to make the deal permanent for around £27 million at the end of the season. However, according to reports from TBR Football (via GIVEMESPORT), the club are eager to act sooner and open talks with Bayern Munich in January.

The German champions are expected to be open to discussions. Palhinha, who cost Bayern €51 million after two outstanding seasons at Fulham, struggled to settle in the Bundesliga. His debut campaign in Germany saw him make just 25 appearances, only eight of them starts, without registering a goal or assist.

Back in the Premier League, though, Palhinha has looked revitalized. He played the full 90 minutes in Spurs’ recent 2-2 draw against Brighton and continues to anchor the midfield with authority. At 30, he still has plenty to offer at the top level, and with Yves Bissouma’s contract expiring next summer, Tottenham are keen to ensure their midfield remains solid.

Securing Palhinha permanently for under £30 million would represent shrewd business for Spurs—a deal that not only bolsters their current campaign but also safeguards their midfield options for the future.
