Super Eagles Midfielder Confident Ahead of Mozambique Clash on January 5.

Dele-Bashiru Super Eagles AFCON 2025

Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has voiced confidence that the team is fully prepared for the intensity of the knockout stages at AFCON 2025 in Morocco.

Nigeria topped Group C with a perfect nine points, narrow 1-0 over Tanzania, thrilling 3-2 against Tunisia, and comfortable 3-1 vs Uganda, setting up a Round of 16 tie against surprise package Mozambique on January 5, 2026, in Fez.

Speaking at the team’s training ground in Fes, the Lazio star said: “I think everyone is looking forward to playing in the knockout stage. It’s a moment that has pressure but we are ready for this and we are going to be working towards this match in the upcoming days. These boys will be ready.”

Dele-Bashiru made his first direct contribution of the tournament against Uganda, assisting Paul Onuachu‘s opener with a precise pass after good work from Bruno Onyemaechi. He reflected: “The team played very well so it was easy for me to make that assist… We have killer strikers in the box with good movement, so it was easy to find one of them. With the way we played, it made it easier for individual players to provide assists.”

Under coach Eric Chelle, Nigeria have shown attacking flair and resilience. Dele-Bashiru’s growing influence in midfield adds depth as the three-time champions chase a fourth title.
