Magpies Boss Insists He Is “Very Happy” at St James’ Park Amid Speculation.

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has emphatically shut down speculation linking him with the vacant Manchester United job, declaring his happiness and commitment to the Magpies on January 7, 2026.

Speaking to reporters ahead of Newcastle’s upcoming fixtures, the 48-year-old – one of the Premier League’s longest-serving managers behind Pep Guardiola, Mikel Arteta, and Marco Silva – was direct when asked about potential interest from Old Trafford following Ruben Amorim’s dismissal.

“No. Not at this current time,” Howe said. “The most important thing for me is happiness in the role, happiness in the job, the relationships that I have with the people around me… I’m very happy at the moment.”

Howe, who has guided Newcastle since November 2021 and led them to a major trophy last season, highlighted the importance of unity and strong boardroom relationships – areas that have improved with new sporting director Ross Wilson and chief executive David Hopkinson.

“For any club to be successful, there has to be unity from top to bottom. I’ve had an unbelievable relationship with the board. That’s never changed. To have the confidence and trust within each other is really important,” he added.

Newcastle currently sit ninth in the Premier League – just two points off fifth – and are progressing strongly in the Champions League (on course for a last-16 play-off) and Carabao Cup (semi-finals).

Howe’s comments come amid backing from Manchester United legends like Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt, but the boss remains focused on St James’ Park, supported by owners the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia and minority shareholder Jamie Reuben.

This firm stance provides stability for Newcastle fans as the January transfer window and key matches approach.
