Team Departs Fès on Thursday Amid Positive Camp Atmosphere.

Super Eagles AFCON 2025 Marrakech Algeria

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced that the Super Eagles will depart their base in Fès for Marrakech on Thursday, January 8, 2026, ahead of the highly anticipated AFCON 2025 quarter-final.

Following Algeria’s dramatic 1-0 extra-time victory over DR Congo on Tuesday – courtesy of Adil Boulbina’s 119th-minute strike – the Desert Foxes will face Nigeria at the Stade de Marrakech on Saturday, January 10, kicking off at 5:00 PM local time.

The three-time champions have played all their matches so far in Fès, including a dominant 4-0 Round of 16 win over Mozambique.

A Tuesday evening training session at the Sardienne Complex saw 26 players fully participate, with defender Ryan Alebiosu continuing individual recovery from injury.

This move aligns with CAF’s new policy assigning each team a designated base camp – a first for the tournament. If Nigeria advances, they will return to Fès before heading to Rabat for a potential semi-final against Morocco or Cameroon on January 14.

Camp officials have also quashed rumours of internal unrest after Victor Osimhen’s on-pitch gesture towards Ademola Lookman during the Mozambique match.

Team administrator Dayo Achor stated: “There is no problem whatsoever in our camp. Whatever people saw as a crisis between two brothers was easily resolved a couple of hours later. All is good.”

Additionally, reports of striker Akor Adams leaving camp were clarified: he briefly visited his parents in Fès – just minutes from the hotel – and returned within an hour.

The squad remains united and focused on the challenge ahead against the 2019 champions.
