Kano Pillars Football Club has announced the mutual departure of striker Samuel Tiza and midfielder Umar Sani Yakasai as the team prepares for the resumption of the 2025/26 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

In a statement released on Wednesday, January 8, 2026, the club’s management expressed gratitude: “The club wishes to thank Samuel Tiza and Umar Sani Yakasai for their commitment and dedication. We wish them success in the next phase of their careers.”

The moves signal an intent to revamp key areas of the squad, with the four-time NPFL champions focused on climbing the table in the second stanza.

Currently 18th with 19 points from 19 matches, Kano Pillars face a tough restart, travelling to Nasarawa United in Lafia next Wednesday.

Tiza, known for his goal-scoring prowess, and Yakasai, a versatile midfielder, contributed during their spells but depart as the club seeks fresh impetus in the relegation battle.
