David Alaba returns from injury

David Alaba has rejoined Real Madrid’s full team training, marking a significant step in his recovery and offering a timely lift for Los Blancos ahead of crucial matches.

The Austrian defender suffered a left calf muscle injury on June 27, 2025, during Real Madrid’s Club World Cup preparations in the USA, which sidelined him for three weeks and forced him to miss the tournament. This setback followed a meniscus tear in his left knee in April 2025, sustained against Getafe, requiring minor surgery and cutting short his 2024-25 La Liga season. Alaba had also overcome a torn ACL from December 2023, underscoring his resilience through a series of injury challenges.

Now back on the pitch, Alaba shared his joy on Instagram: “Back with the team after a long time. Happy and grateful!” He’s expected to gradually return, potentially featuring against Villarreal this weekend or in the Champions League showdown with Liverpool. His comeback strengthens Real Madrid’s backline, providing experience and stability. Welcome back, David!
