CAF Unveils Full List of Match Officials for AFCON 2025

73 Top African Referees Selected as CAF Reinforces Commitment to Excellence Ahead of Morocco 2025.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially released the full roster of match officials for the highly anticipated 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). This year’s list features 73 elite officials, reflecting CAF’s dedication to maintaining the highest officiating standards on the continent.

The appointed team includes:

  • 28 Referees
  • 31 Assistant Referees
  • 14 VAR Officials

These officials were meticulously selected from all regions of Africa, representing some of the most seasoned referees who have consistently delivered at top CAF competitions over the years. Their inclusion highlights CAF’s strong focus on quality, fairness, and technical excellence as African football continues to grow globally.

All selected match officials are expected to arrive in Morocco on 15 December 2025 for an intensive training programme. The preparatory course—organized by CAF’s Referees Department—will feature physical, technical, and theoretical assessments to ensure every official performs at peak level throughout the tournament.

This move demonstrates CAF’s ongoing commitment to competition integrity and its continuous effort to elevate refereeing standards across African football.

AFCON 2025 will be hosted in Morocco from 18 December 2025 to 18 January 2026, promising a month of world-class football and elite officiating on the grandest stage in Africa.
