Finidi George

After a Tough Opening Loss, the Rivers United Boss Backs His Squad to Deliver in CAF Champions League Matchday Two.

Rivers United head coach Finidi George remains optimistic that his team can secure a vital victory against Moroccan giants RS Berkane in their upcoming CAF Champions League clash. The Port Harcourt outfit will host Moïn Chaâbani’s men on Friday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, in what promises to be a crucial matchday two showdown.

The former Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions head into the encounter desperate for their first group-stage win, following a disappointing 3-0 defeat to defending champions Pyramids FC of Egypt in their opening fixture.

Finidi emphasized the importance of giving supporters a reason to celebrate, especially after the setback against Pyramids.

“We owe it to our fans to rise up to the occasion and get a result against RS Berkane. We did well for 50 minutes against Pyramids and then lost concentration. We cannot afford to do that tomorrow,” he told CAFonline.

Despite the pressure, the Rivers United boss is confident in the quality of his squad.

“We have the players that can get the job done and I believe they will step up. The CAF Champions League is a big stage for any player and I believe they all realize and appreciate that.”

With renewed determination and the backing of their home fans, Rivers United will aim to show their resilience and kick-start their CAF Champions League campaign with a crucial win against RS Berkane.
