Nigeria’s Semi Ajayi Nets First Goal for Tigers in Hard-Fought Championship Win.

Semi Ajayi

Semi Ajayi was on target as Hull City secured a 2-1 comeback victory over second-placed Stoke City on Saturday in the Championship.

Stoke initially took the lead in the 17th minute through Sorba Thomas, who struck a thunderous volley from a corner.

Hull City responded shortly after the break, with Ajayi equalising with a powerful header just two minutes into the second half — marking his first-ever goal for the Tigers. The Nigerian centre-back played the full 90 minutes in a fiercely contested match.

Ajayi has made eight league appearances for Hull City since joining on a free transfer this summer.

Hull sealed the victory in dramatic fashion as Joe Gelhardt scored the winner in stoppage time. Ajayi’s compatriot, David Akintola, remained an unused substitute for the visitors.

Hull City’s resilience sees them climb the Championship standings, with Ajayi’s contributions at the back and on the scoresheet proving vital.
