Colombian Striker Moves to South African Giants in $3.5m Deal.

Following the recent departure of young full-back Juan Arizala to Udinese, Independiente Medellín have completed another significant outgoing transfer with striker Brayan León Muñiz joining South African powerhouse Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 25-year-old Colombian forward moves in a reported $3.5 million package that includes a sell-on clause, marking Sundowns’ first acquisition of the January 2026 window. Reliable sources, including Fabrizio Romano, confirm the deal is done, with León set to sign a long-term contract in the Betway Premiership.

Juan Arizala

León, known for his clinical finishing and versatility up front, enjoyed a prolific spell at Medellín, contributing double-digit goals and assists in recent seasons. His performances attracted interest from MLS clubs, but the lure of joining the dominant Sundowns – fresh from Club World Cup participation – proved decisive.

This sale continues Medellín’s active winter market, providing funds as they prepare for the 2026 Copa Libertadores campaign.

Sundowns fans will eagerly await León’s impact as the Brazilians aim to maintain their domestic supremacy and make waves continentally.
