Club History

Brighton & Hove Albion, nicknamed the Seagulls or Albion, is a professional football club from Brighton and Hove on the south coast of England. Since its founding in 1901, Brighton played in lower leagues, and experienced financial difficulties in the late 1990s that almost saw them drop out of the Football League. The club’s turnaround involved successive promotions, and in 2011 they moved into their now-stadium at Falmer (the Amex), ending a long period without a permanent home. They were promoted to the Premier League in 2017 after a 34-year absence from the top flight. In recent seasons they’ve improved steadily, qualifying for European competition for the first time in their history after a high finish in 2022-23.
