Club History

Newcastle United has a long and proud history rooted in the working-class communities of Tyneside. Beginning in 1881 as Stanley FC, evolving into Newcastle East End, and adopting the name Newcastle United in 1892 when consolidating its position in the city, the club established itself early on as one of English football’s major sides. St James’ Park has been their home since 1892, witnessing many highs and lows: multiple First Division / Premier League titles, several FA Cup triumphs, long stretches without silverware, and passionate fan support through it all. In 2025 they ended a 70-year wait for a major domestic trophy by winning the EFL Cup, and qualified for the Champions League, marking a resurgence in their ambitions on the European stage.
