Wales Winger Yet to Commit Amid Competition from Bournemouth and Others.

Brennan Johnson

Crystal Palace are on the verge of a major January coup after agreeing a £35 million fee with Tottenham Hotspur for winger Brennan Johnson, as reported by David Ornstein and multiple outlets on December 30, 2025.

The 24-year-old Wales international – who etched his name in Spurs folklore by scoring the winner in the 2025 Europa League final against Manchester United (Tottenham’s first trophy in 17 years) – has fallen down the pecking order under manager Thomas Frank. Despite topping Tottenham’s goal charts last season with 18 strikes, Johnson has started just six Premier League games in 2025/26, often overshadowed by Mohammed Kudus on the right and others on the left.

Palace, pushing for European spots under Oliver Glasner, have made Johnson their primary target to bolster attacking options – especially with Ismaïla Sarr away at AFCON. The deal would smash Palace’s transfer record, but the ball is now in Johnson’s court: he must approve the move amid interest from Bournemouth (seeking a Semenyo replacement), Everton, and Aston Villa.

Signed from Nottingham Forest for £47.5m in 2023, Johnson could represent a profit (or break-even after amortisation) for Spurs despite the drop. Frank recently called him “very important,” but the club is open to a permanent sale.
