Nigerian Midfielder Heading to MLS

Hamzat Ojediran, the 22-year-old Nigerian defensive midfielder, is on the verge of a move from RC Lens to Major League Soccer side Colorado Rapids, with reports confirming an agreement between the clubs on December 20, 2025.

The transfer fee is reported to be just under €3 million, representing more than double what Lens paid to sign him from Hungarian club Debrecen in August 2024.

Ojediran, a former Nigeria youth international, has yet to make a senior appearance for Lens this season and has a contract with the Ligue 1 leaders until 2028.

The deal is subject to the player obtaining a visa and passing a medical examination, after which an official announcement is expected.

Known for his physicality, ball-winning ability, and high work rate, Ojediran’s profile is seen as a perfect fit for the demands of MLS.

This move offers the young midfielder a chance for regular playing time after limited opportunities in France.

Another Nigerian talent making waves across the Atlantic.
