League History

The UEFA Conference League, Europe’s third-tier club football competition, launched in 2021 to give smaller nations and mid-table teams a shot at European glory, evolving from UEFA’s push for broader participation since 2015. It features 36 teams in a league phase format as of 2024–25, with winners qualifying for the next Europa League. Roma claimed the inaugural title in 2022, beating Feyenoord 1–0, followed by West Ham’s 2023 triumph over Fiorentina and Olympiacos’ 2024 victory for Greece’s first major club honor. As of 2025, Chelsea are the reigning champions after a 4–1 win over Real Betis in the Wrocław final, becoming the first club to lift all four major UEFA trophies.
