Experienced official to take charge of crucial Group C encounter in Fès on December 27.

Boubou Traoré

Experienced Malian Official for Key Group C Fixture

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Boubou Traoré from Mali as the centre referee for the highly anticipated Group C clash between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles at AFCON 2025.

The match is scheduled for Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the Complexe Sportif de Fès, with kick-off at 9:00 PM Nigerian time.

Issa Sy from Senegal will handle Video Assistant Referee (VAR) duties.

Traoré, a highly respected and experienced official on the continent, is seen as a fitting choice for this pivotal encounter between two former champions.

Both teams enter the game on three points after opening victories: Nigeria 2-1 over Tanzania and Tunisia 3-1 against Uganda.

A win would significantly boost either side’s chances of topping the group and advancing smoothly to the knockouts.

The fixture carries added spice due to past meetings, including Tunisia’s elimination of Nigeria in the 2021 AFCON round of 16.
