AFCON 2025: Senegal Hit By Double Injury Blow

Defender Camara and striker Diao ruled out ahead of tournament.

Senegal have been dealt a double injury blow ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Full-back Ilay Camara and striker Assane Diao will miss the tournament due to injuries.

Diao, 22, sustained his injury while playing for Como against AS Roma, and Como coach Cesc Fabregas requested that the young forward not be selected for AFCON.

The Teranga Lions, drawn in Group D alongside Benin, Botswana, and DR Congo, will open their campaign against Botswana in Tangier next Tuesday.

These absences come as Senegal aim to challenge for the continental crown.
