South Africa’s head coach Hugo Broos has declared that Bafana Bafana are fully prepared and capable of competing for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco this weekend.

The South Africans finished third at the last AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire, and Broos insists his squad’s experience and preparation give them a platform to challenge the continent’s best.

“This team has experience… We are far ahead in terms of our preparations,” Broos told The Star.
“The finishing touches will be done by the end of the week.”

Broos also acknowledged that opponents may look very different from two years ago, but insists South Africa’s preparation gives them an edge.

“If you look at teams like Cameroon, Senegal and Morocco, they only started their preparations yesterday.”

While admitting they are missing three players he would have liked to count on, Broos made it clear that is not an excuse for underperformance at the tournament.

South Africa are drawn in Group B alongside Egypt, Zimbabwe and Angola, with their campaign set to kick off soon in Morocco.
