Super Eagles’ Group C opponents disrupt preparations in Morocco ahead of opening clash with Tunisia.

Disruption in Uganda Camp Ahead of AFCON 2025

The Uganda Cranes’ preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations suffered a setback on Saturday, December 20, when players boycotted a scheduled training session in Rabat, Morocco.

Reports indicate that the squad refused to train, protesting delays in the payment of allowances from the AFCON 2025 qualifiers. The players are also seeking clear details on their bonuses and earnings during the tournament in Morocco.

Paul Put coach of Uganda

This incident echoes a similar player sit-out during the 2019 AFCON in Egypt, highlighting recurring issues with financial matters in Ugandan football.

The Uganda Football Federation (FUFA) is expected to intervene and resolve the dispute promptly to restore focus.

Head coach Paul Put’s side is in Group C alongside three-time champions Nigeria, Tunisia, and Tanzania. The Cranes open their campaign against Tunisia on Tuesday, December 23, in Rabat.

With the tournament already underway, Uganda will hope to iron out these off-field issues quickly and channel energy into their quest for a strong group stage performance.
