Injury blow adds to Werder Bremen’s selection worries.

Victor Boniface

Werder Bremen will be without Victor Boniface for their Bundesliga home clash against VfB Stuttgart on Sunday, sportblits.com reports.

The 24-year-old striker, on loan from Bayer Leverkusen, sustained a knee contusion following a knee-to-knee collision. Head coach Horst Steffen confirmed the injury on Friday, explaining that the incident “really hurt.”

Bremen are yet to clarify how long Boniface will be sidelined. The Nigerian forward, who joined the club last summer, has struggled with fitness and form this season and is still searching for his first goal. He was also omitted from Eric Chelle’s final 28-man Super Eagles squad for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

Boniface’s absence compounds Bremen’s problems, with Mitchell Weiser, Felix Agu and Maximilian Wöber also unavailable. The multiple injuries are expected to pose tactical challenges for Steffen as his side look to secure a positive result at home.
