Pep Guardiola confirms Belgium winger to miss key City fixtures due to leg injury.

Jeremy Doku against Liverpool

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that injured winger Jeremy Doku will be sidelined until the new year following a leg problem sustained last week. The 23-year-old missed City’s 3-0 Premier League win against Crystal Palace and will also be unavailable for the upcoming League Cup quarter-final against Brentford, as well as league matches against West Ham and Nottingham Forest.

Guardiola stated: “Jeremy will be out two or three weeks. New year at Sunderland maybe.”

Doku, who joined City from Rennes in 2023, has been crucial this season with three goals and five assists, helping Erling Haaland continue his prolific campaign. The Belgian’s absence provides an opportunity for Brazilian winger Savinho to step up, with Guardiola praising his recent work rate and adaptability.

City trail Arsenal by two points in the title race, making squad rotation and injury management a key concern for Guardiola during the congested Christmas period.
