Super Eagles winger reacts to Man of the Match display in Fulham’s 2-1 victory.

Samuel Chukwueze

Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze has expressed his delight after playing a key role in Fulham’s impressive 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday night.

Fulham had struggled at the start of their Premier League campaign and went into the London derby as slight underdogs. However, they delivered a spirited performance to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with all three points.

Chukwueze, who came off the bench last week to assist Fulham’s only goal against Sunderland, was surprisingly handed a starting spot by manager Marco Silva and the winger fully justified the decision.

The AC Milan loanee produced another standout display, providing the assist for Tete’s opening goal. He could have scored earlier in the first half but failed to convert a promising chance. Still, his overall performance was outstanding: lively on the ball, effective defensively, and consistently dangerous down the flank. He was deservedly named Man of the Match.

Speaking after the game, Chukwueze credited his showing to the hard work he has put in during recent months and praised his teammates for their collective effort:

“I wasn’t expecting it today. But I was focusing on doing the hard work,” Chukwueze told Sky Sports, via Jack Kelly.

“The last months have been a bit difficult, but I kept my head down and kept working, and I took the opportunity today.

“They push me really hard in training and keep me motivated. We are so proud of the result today. We worked for it on the training pitch.

“The players gave everything on the field. We had to defend with all our life. This win is very, very important.”

Chukwueze’s display will certainly have pleased Marco Silva, but there is little time to celebrate. Fulham now prepare for a tough clash against Manchester City on Tuesday, where they will hope to continue their positive momentum.
