Fisayo Dele-Bashiru

Lazio midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is expected to be reinstated in the club’s Serie A squad list this weekend after recovering from the hamstring injury that has sidelined him since late September.

The 24-year-old Nigerian suffered the setback during the Derby della Capitale loss to Roma, leading coach Maurizio Sarri to drop him from the 25-man roster and replace him with Toma Basic. The Croatian has since performed well, but with Nicolo Rovella now out until January after groin surgery, Lazio will use their final permitted squad change to bring Dele-Bashiru back.

Serie A rules allow two squad list changes between September and December. Lazio used the first to register Basic; the second will now restore the Super Eagles midfielder.

Dele-Bashiru missed Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup playoff campaign due to the injury but is in contention for selection at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco next month, where the Super Eagles face Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda in Group C.

His return gives him a crucial window to impress before the January transfer window, amid earlier speculation about a possible interest from other clubs.
