Patrick Vieira

Genoa CFC have sacked head coach Patrick Vieira following a dire start to the 2025/26 Serie A season, with no wins in nine matches.

The 49-year-old Frenchman, who led Genoa to 13th last season, oversaw just three draws and six losses, with the team scoring a league-low four goals. A 2-0 defeat to Cremonese proved the final straw.

Roberto Murgita takes over as interim coach for Monday’s clash with Sassuolo. Genoa thanked Vieira for his professionalism, wishing him well.

The move marks the club’s seventh managerial change since 2018/19, reflecting ongoing turmoil at the Luigi Ferraris.
