Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has expressed his support for DR Congo to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, underscoring the tournament’s importance for African players. “My father is Congolese and has invested in projects providing education and safe accommodation for children living in poverty. Congo is part of my heritage, and I naturally support them in this tournament,” Kompany stated. He further emphasised Bayern Munich’s backing of players’ international duties, mentioning Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson, who will join his national squad after Bayern’s match against Mainz.

Kompany praised Jackson’s performances despite limited playing time at Bayern, noting his impressive goals-per-minute ratio and professionalism in training. “With Harry Kane up front, there’s competition, but it’s a luxury to see how Nicolas is handling that. Hopefully, he’ll continue to capitalise on the chances he gets,” Kompany added, reinforcing his respect for African talent participating in AFCON 2025.
