Désiré Doué

Paris Saint Germain have been dealt a significant injury blow ahead of crucial UEFA Champions League fixtures, with talented young forward Désiré Doué set to miss several weeks of action.

The 20 year old France international was forced off on a stretcher just past the hour mark during PSG’s 1-1 draw with Lorient in Wednesday’s Ligue 1 encounter. Medical assessments confirmed a muscular lesion in his right thigh, sidelining the attacker for the foreseeable future.

Désiré Doué forced off on a stretcher.

Doué had been in scintillating form in Europe, netting a brace during PSG’s dominant 7 2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in their most recent Champions League match. His absence will be keenly felt when Luis Enrique’s side travel to face Bayern Munich on November 4 a tie that could prove pivotal in the group stage.

The injury timeline also rules Doué out of Tottenham Hotspur’s visit to the Parc des Princes on November 26, further complicating PSG’s ambitions in the competition.

In an official statement released on Thursday, the club indicated that further details on the player’s recovery would follow the upcoming international break. “A new update will be provided after the international break in November,” PSG confirmed.

Enrique will now need to reshuffle his attacking options as the Parisians aim to maintain their strong start to the Champions League campaign without one of their rising stars.
