Maliya Boys Act After Disappointing First Half of 2025/26 Season.

Ladan Bosso

Barau FC have officially parted ways with their technical adviser Ladan Bosso, the club announced on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.

The decision follows an internal review of the team’s results in the first half of the 2025/26 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, with the separation taking immediate effect.

In a statement, the Maliya Boys thanked Bosso for his dedication: “We express our gratitude to Coach Ladan Bosso for his service and wish him success in future endeavours.”

An assistant coach has been appointed on an interim basis to lead the team into the second stanza, as the NPFL resumes after the mid-season break in mid-January.

The former Flying Eagles and U20 coach joined Barau on the eve of the season. His highlight was a 4-1 thrashing of former champions Rivers United, but overall results were underwhelming: 5 wins, 7 draws, and 8 defeats from 19 matches, leaving the debutants 17th with 21 points – just above the relegation zone.

Bosso, a veteran of Nigerian football with stints at clubs like Kano Pillars and El-Kanemi Warriors, now seeks his next challenge. Barau will hope the change sparks an improved second half to secure survival.
