Domestic Talent Boost Signals Coach Chelle’s Vision for Depth and Renewal.

Chisom Orji

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) star Chisom Orji has received a massive career boost, earning a spot in the 54-man provisional squad released by Super Eagles Head Coach Eric Chelle for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) finals in Morocco.

The inclusion of Orji, along with four other players from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), underscores Coach Chelle’s commitment to rewarding domestic excellence and broadening the national team’s talent base.

Chisom Orji, who currently plays as a forward/striker for Warri Wolves FC, has been one of the standout players in the NPFL this season. His consistency, physical presence, and goal-scoring contribution for the Seasiders have evidently caught the eye of the national team selectors.

His inclusion places him among a select group of home-based talents who have been given the opportunity to fight for a spot in the final 28-man squad that will travel to Morocco for the tournament, which begins on December 21, 2025.

Other NPFL stars included alongside Orji are Abdulrasheed Shehu, Ebenezer Harcourt, Ekeson Okorie, and Adekunle Adeleke.

The Super Eagles are scheduled to open their training camp in Egypt on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, where they will play a series of friendly matches. Coach Chelle is expected to prune the extensive list down to the final 28 players shortly before the team departs for Morocco.

For the P Sports Football Academy graduate, Chisom Orji, this provisional call-up is a significant career milestone and a huge opportunity to showcase that NPFL players can compete effectively on the international stage.
