Premier League Star Reports Over £800,000 Missing From Account

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma has reportedly been targeted in a major fraud, with over £800,000 allegedly taken from his elite Coutts bank account without his consent. The 29 year old Mali international, who joined Spurs from Brighton in a £30 million deal in 2022, lost the funds between September 2022 and June 2024, per court records obtained by The Sun.

Maurice Gomes, 31, faces two counts of fraud by false representation, accused of dishonestly transferring £834,334.40 from Bissouma’s account for personal gain. Each charge carries a potential 10 year prison sentence. Gomes, living in a £1.4 million six bedroom home in Enfield, North London, was arrested over a year ago after Bissouma’s report and charged in October. He is set to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court today.

Coutts, the prestigious bank used by celebrities and royals, is central to the case. The connection between Gomes and Bissouma, who earns £50,000 a week at Spurs, remains unclear, as does how the account was accessed. A source told The Sun: “This has been deeply hurtful for Yves. It’s been a tough year for him on and off the pitch, and this hanging over his head will have contributed to that.”

Bissouma’s challenges extend beyond this incident: he had a £255,000 watch stolen in Cannes in June, has been sidelined from Tottenham’s squad since August, and suffered an injury while playing for Mali last month. If the case goes to trial, he may need to testify. Coutts has declined to comment.
