Collectors Eye Iconic Jersey from Failed 2013 Transfer.

Queens Park Rangers are set to auction the only shirt ever made for Peter Odemwingie, prepared ahead of his aborted transfer from West Brom in January 2013, sportblits.com reports.

At the time, the Nigeria international believed he had completed a deadline-day move to QPR and arrived at Loftus Road expecting to finalize the transfer. Instead, a fee had not been agreed between the clubs, leaving Odemwingie stranded in his car outside the stadium.

In preparation, QPR’s head of retail, Francis Atkinson, had already created a shirt bearing Odemwingie’s name and number, a unique piece now heading to auction.

Odemwingie, who won three Premier League Player of the Month awards during his time at West Brom, eventually stayed at The Hawthorns for the rest of the season before moving to Cardiff City in the summer of 2013. During his stint at West Brom, he scored 31 goals and provided 14 assists in 90 appearances, including two Premier League campaigns with 10+ goals, making his £2.5 million signing from Lokomotiv Moscow widely regarded as a bargain.

The auction provides collectors a chance to own a piece of Premier League history, commemorating one of the league’s most dramatic and unusual transfer stories.

Meanwhile, West Brom continue their search for attacking reinforcements, often citing past players like Odemwingie as benchmarks for the talent the club hopes to attract.
