Nigeria ends pre-tournament camp in Egypt and heads to Fez, Morocco, ahead of 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Super Eagles

The Super Eagles have concluded their five-day pre-tournament camp in Cairo, Egypt, and are en route to Fez, Morocco, ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

The Nigerian squad began their camp on Sunday with 10 players, gradually increasing to 27 by Wednesday, with Paris FC forward Moses Simon joining as the 27th member. Galatasaray star Victor Osimhen was the final expected player before the team’s departure to Morocco.

Pre-tournament friendly vs Egypt
Nigeria faced the Pharaohs in a pre-tournament friendly on Tuesday, losing 2–1. Ahmed Saber opened the scoring for Egypt in the 28th minute, while Chidozie Awaziem equalised in first-half stoppage time after a delayed free-kick from Zaidu Sanusi caused confusion in Egypt’s defence. Mostafa Mohamed restored Egypt’s lead eight minutes after the restart, exploiting a poorly coordinated Nigerian offside trap.

Final squad and debuts
Head coach Eric Chelle released his 28-man squad last Thursday. Notable recalls include goalkeeper Francis Uzoho and striker Paul Onuachu after more than a year away. Five players will make their AFCON debuts: Inter Milan youngster Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Israel-based Usman Muhammed, former Flying Eagles duo Tochukwu Nnadi and Salim Fago, and Blackburn Rovers defender Ryan Alebiosu.

AFCON 2025 Group C fixtures
Nigeria has been drawn in Group C alongside Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda. The Super Eagles will face Tanzania on December 23, Tunisia on December 27, and Uganda on December 30.

Runners-up in the previous edition after a 2–1 defeat to Ivory Coast, Nigeria aims for a fourth AFCON title, having previously lifted the trophy in 1980, 1994, and 2013.

NAIJA 4 THE WIN campaign
The NFF has launched the “NAIJA 4 THE WIN” campaign as the Super Eagles return to continental action, signaling the nation’s determination to reclaim the prestigious title in Morocco.
