“We Respect Nigeria, But We’re Not Intimidated” – Cranes Boss.

Paul Put

Uganda head coach Paul Put says the Cranes are ready for AFCON 2025, as preparations intensify in Morocco ahead of the tournament kickoff.

The Belgian tactician, who recently extended his contract until 2028, watched his side earn a 2–2 draw against Moroccan giants AS FAR Rabat in a friendly, a result he believes shows growing confidence and balance within the squad.

“We respect Nigeria, but we are not intimidated,” Put said, ahead of their Group C showdown with the Super Eagles.

Uganda will also face Tunisia and Tanzania in a tough group, but Put insists his blend of experienced players and emerging talents gives the Cranes a real chance to compete.

The 69-year-old, who previously led Burkina Faso to the 2013 AFCON final, says AFCON 2025 is part of a long-term project as Uganda target progress now and build towards 2027.

Uganda open their campaign on December 23, with their final group match against Nigeria on December 30 in Fez.
