Goalkeeper leads early arrivals as Nigeria begins preparations for Morocco tournament.

Super Eagles open camp in Cairo

The Super Eagles of Nigeria officially opened their AFCON 2025 training camp in Egypt, with goalkeeper Francis Uzoho leading the way. The camp began at the Renaissance Hotel, Cairo, on Sunday, December 14, with Uzoho arriving shortly after 2 a.m. local time, marking the first player to report. Coaches and backroom staff were already in place as preparations for the continental showpiece in Morocco got underway.

A video shared on X by sports photographer Sulaimon Adebayo, popularly known as Pooja, captured the nighttime arrivals. The footage shows staff wheeling luggage into the hotel lobby under dim lighting, with Uzoho smiling as he manoeuvres his belongings through the entrance. His presence sparked discussions among fans and pundits, especially regarding his recall to the 28-man squad over regular starter Maduka Okoye of Udinese.

The Nigeria Football Federation has chosen Egypt as a training base ahead of the tournament, with a pre-tournament friendly against Egypt scheduled for December 16. The camp is expected to build cohesion and sharpen the team ahead of their Group C fixtures in Morocco, with Uzoho and other key players set to feature prominently.
