Visa Issues Block Super Eagles Fans from 2026 World Cup Playoffs in Morocco

A plan to fly up to 200 Nigerian fans to Rabat, Morocco, to support the Super Eagles in their 2026 FIFA World Cup African playoffs has been canceled due to visa entry complications.

“The plan is off because of problems of securing the fans visas into Morocco,” an NFF official told Score Nigeria, confirming the collapse of the National Sports Commission’s initiative just days after its announcement. This leaves the Super Eagles without their traveling fanbase for the critical mini-tournament to secure Africa’s final World Cup berth.

The Nigerian embassy in Rabat is now tasked with mobilizing Nigerian students and residents to cheer at the Complexe Sportif Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan. Nigeria, led by Eric Chelle, faces Gabon in the semi-final on Thursday, November 13, at 5pm local time, with a potential final against Cameroon or DR Congo on November 16 for a spot in the March 2026 intercontinental playoffs in Mexico.

The visa issue mirrors past logistical challenges, like seven players delayed by travel problems in South Africa for October’s qualifiers. NFF President Ibrahim Gusau remains confident, stating the team is ready to clinch Africa’s ticket despite the absent fan support.
