United Make First Move for Neves

Manchester United have initiated contact with the agent of Al-Hilal midfielder Rúben Neves to discuss the player’s current situation, according to reports emerging on December 25, 2025.

However, there are no concrete negotiations with Al-Hilal at this stage, the discussions remain preliminary and focused on understanding Neves’ availability and willingness for a move.

The interest aligns with manager Ruben Amorim‘s desire to strengthen midfield options, and his prior knowledge of the 28-year-old from their time together at Wolves could play a key role.

Neves has been a standout performer in the Saudi Pro League since his €55m switch from Wolves in 2023, offering composure, passing range, and set-piece expertise.

A Premier League return has long been speculated for the Portuguese international, who has previously expressed fondness for English football.

Al-Hilal would demand a substantial fee for their star asset, especially given his contract runs until 2026 with strong performances in domestic and Asian competitions.

Other clubs have been linked in the past, but United’s Portuguese connection gives them an early advantage in exploratory talks.

A potential January development to watch closely as Amorim looks to reshape the squad.
