La Liga strugglers target Real Sociedad striker to bolster attack amid relegation battle.

Valencia Turn Back to Sadiq

Valencia have renewed their interest in Real Sociedad striker Umar Sadiq as they seek attacking reinforcements during the January transfer window.

The La Liga side, currently hovering just above the relegation zone, view the 27-year-old Nigerian as a priority target to add goals, physicality, and aerial threat to their frontline.

Valencia previously explored a move for Sadiq in the summer but couldn’t finalize terms. Now, with the team struggling for consistency upfront, manager Rubén Baraja has reportedly pushed for the deal.

Sadiq, who joined Sociedad from Almería in 2022 for around €20 million, has shown flashes of quality but has been hampered by injuries and competition for places in San Sebastián.

The Super Eagles forward has international experience and proven goal-scoring ability in La Liga (11 goals in 2021/22 with Almería), making him an attractive profile for Valencia’s survival push.

A loan with option to buy is the most likely structure, though Sociedad’s valuation and Sadiq’s contract (until 2028) could complicate negotiations.

Other clubs in Spain and abroad have been linked, but Valencia’s renewed push positions them as frontrunners.

A potential lifeline for Sadiq to regain form and minutes ahead of the 2026 World Cup cycle.
