Former Arsenal FC and Manchester City player Emmanuel Adebayor has delivered a brutal verdict on the Premier League title race, insisting he still expects City to overtake Arsenal and become champions.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Adebayor admitted he would personally love to see Arsenal finally end their long wait for the title, but believes Pep Guardiola’s side have the experience and mentality to finish the job.
“If you ask me today, I will still tell you I think Man City will win it. But I would like Arsenal to win it.”
The former striker praised Arsenal’s defensive improvement and the progress they have made under Mikel Arteta, but warned that the pressure of the title run-in could still prove decisive.
Adebayor also suggested that City’s recent slip-up against Everton FC would only motivate them further.
“They will do everything possible to win the last three games and wait for Arsenal to drop points so they can be champions.”
Despite his prediction, Adebayor made it clear he wants Arsenal to succeed after years of rebuilding and near misses.
Support from the heart… but confidence still with Manchester City.
