
As the 2025/26 European football season nears its conclusion, several Nigerian players have delivered exceptional performances for their clubs across Europe’s biggest leagues and competitions.
From title races to European adventures and survival battles, Super Eagles stars have showcased their quality with important goals, assists, leadership and defensive brilliance.
Here are 10 Nigerian footballers who have lit up Europe this season:
1. Emmanuel Fernandez (Rangers)
The defender arrived at Rangers from Peterborough United with little fanfare but quickly established himself as one of the best centre-backs in Scotland.
The 24-year-old earned his first Super Eagles call-up after a brilliant campaign that also saw him named in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year and voted Rangers’ Player of the Year.
Fernandez scored five league goals in 24 appearances for the Light Blues.
2. Ademola Lookman (Atlético Madrid)
After sealing a January move from Atalanta, Lookman wasted no time becoming a key figure for Atlético Madrid.
The winger played a huge role in Atlético’s run to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, contributing two goals and two assists in Europe.
The 28-year-old also impressed domestically with goals and assists in both La Liga and the Copa del Rey.

3. Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray)
Despite struggling with injuries during parts of the campaign, Osimhen once again proved why he remains one of Europe’s deadliest strikers.

His performances have kept Galatasaray firmly in the hunt for another Turkish Super Lig title.
4. Paul Onuachu (Trabzonspor)
Paul Onuachu has enjoyed a sensational season since joining Trabzonspor permanently from Southampton.
The towering striker has produced 22 goals and two assists in 27 league appearances, establishing himself among the league’s most feared forwards.
The Nigerian is now chasing the Turkish Super Lig Golden Boot.
5. Maduka Okoye (Udinese)
After serving a two-month suspension earlier in the season, Okoye bounced back brilliantly to rediscover top form.
The goalkeeper has recorded 10 clean sheets in Serie A and recently achieved a personal milestone with three consecutive clean sheets for the first time in his career.

6. Alex Iwobi (Fulham)

7. Moses Usor (LASK)

8. Frank Onyeka (Coventry City)
On loan from Brentford, Onyeka transformed Coventry City’s midfield during the second half of the campaign.
The midfielder’s aggressive pressing and energy helped drive Coventry’s promotion push.

9. Ola Aina (Nottingham Forest)
