The 6ft 2in (1.88m) centre-back, born on February 3, 2008, has already impressed in Ecuador’s top flight, starting five matches for Aucas this season—a remarkable feat for a teenager breaking into senior football. Olaya has also earned seven caps for Ecuador’s U17 national team, showcasing his potential on the international stage.

“Bayern Munich have agreed a deal to sign 17-year-old Virgilio Olaya from SD Aucas,” Romano posted on X.

Bayern’s acquisition—on an undisclosed fee—aligns with their long-term youth strategy: snapping up promising talents early and nurturing them through partnerships. The club is already plotting Olaya’s immediate loan to a partner in the Red&Gold Football venture, a collaboration with Los Angeles FC that includes clubs like Jeju SK FC (South Korea), Gambinos Stars Africa, and Racing Club de Montevideo (Uruguay).
