Former Super Eagles striker Peter Odemwingie has issued a strong warning to compatriot Victor Osimhen amid growing speculation surrounding the Nigerian forward’s future ahead of the summer transfer window.
Osimhen has once again become one of Europe’s hottest transfer targets following another prolific season with Galatasaray SK, where he has continued to justify his massive transfer fee with goals and dominant performances.
The striker has been linked with elite clubs including Arsenal FC, Real Madrid CF, FC Barcelona, Chelsea FC and Manchester United FC.
However, Odemwingie believes not every move would suit the Super Eagles star.
“I’m not saying Manchester United because the wahala there is too much.”
The former West Bromwich Albion FC forward warned that the pressure surrounding Manchester United has made life difficult for several strikers over the years.
“The pressure on strikers — we’ve seen it with Lukaku and so many other strikers. They will always find a scapegoat because the club is so big.”
Instead, Odemwingie strongly backed Arsenal, Barcelona and Real Madrid as ideal destinations for Osimhen because of their style of play and tactical setup.
“Arsenal and Barcelona will be good. Real Madrid is also class for him.”
He also highlighted Osimhen’s physical qualities, pace, aerial ability and movement as reasons why he could succeed at the highest level of European football.
“He is fast, he can head as well, he has the advantage of height and he jumps very well.”
Despite the transfer rumours, Osimhen remains focused on finishing the season strongly with Galatasaray, while interest from Europe’s top clubs continues to intensify ahead of the summer window.
