World’s Oldest Pro Footballer Extends Record-Breaking Career into 41st Season.

Kazuyoshi Miura “King Kazu”

Japanese football icon Kazuyoshi Miura, affectionately known as “King Kazu”, continues to defy age by signing a new loan deal with J3 League side Fukushima United on December 30, 2025 – setting up his 41st season as a professional.

The 58-year-old (born February 26, 1967) moves from parent club Yokohama FC (where he’s been registered since 2005) after a stint with fourth-tier Atletico Suzuka last season. This return to the J.League’s top three divisions – first in five years – sees Miura ready to “take on a new challenge” with Fukushima, who finished 10th in J3 last year.

Miura stated: “My passion for football will never change, even as I get older. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity… Let’s build a new history together!”

Fun fact: Miura made his pro debut in 1986 with Brazilian giants Santos – a full 16 years before PSG was founded in 1970. He’s outlasted entire clubs!

The eternal “King Kazu” – inspiration personified. How much longer can he go?
